Big Fish Ball
Friends of the Chicago River celebrated our most successful gala ever on June 9, 2010, at the Merchandise Mart’s Riverside Drive. The fifth annual Big Fish Ball raised nearly $200,000, and guests are still talking about this memorable night!
The summer evening’s lures included elegant outdoor dining, the inaugural Blue Ribbon Awards for excellence in riverfront development, a blues performance, and much more. Mayor Richard M. Daley’s remarks were a highlight of the evening. Breathtaking downtown skyline and Chicago River views were our backdrop. And an eight-year old wolf, ground hog, baby raccoon, and two wolf cubs that mingled with guests made our gala truly one-of-a-kind. Some of Chicago’s most prominent corporate and civic leaders were among the nearly 400 guests who attended.
Returning sponsor Kirkland & Ellis lauded, “We were delighted to sponsor the Big Fish Ball. From sweeping river and skyline views to elegant dining, blues music, and an address from Mayor Daley, the Big Fish Ball celebrates all that is unique about Chicago. As a firm interested in growing our own green program, it was an honor to partner with Friends of the Chicago River to support one of the city’s greatest natural treasures. Congratulations on a magnificent evening!”
Very special thanks to our Big Fish Ball sponsors, gala committee, honorary committee, board of directors, staff, and volunteers who contributed to making the gala so spectacular.
