Over the past three years Friends of the Chicago River has been leading a movement to rename and transform the 28-mile Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal with a coalition of elected officials, agencies, and a wide array of community partners.

The Chicago-Calumet River Summit is Friends of the Chicago River's annual flagship policy event; this year's theme will highlight urban river swimming and explore the next steps toward safe, accessible, and equitable swimming in the Chicago-Calumet River system.
