Join us in an exclusive after-hours sunset and moonlight paddle through the Skokie Lagoons. Dusk is primetime for wildlife to be out and about; past guests have seen great blue herons, egrets, bald eagles, turtles and more. Night paddling is not normally permitted in the Forest Preserves, so this is a special opportunity to experience the lagoons from a rare perspective. Friends’ trusty canoe guides will help everyone safely load in and out of the canoes, answer questions about the river along the way and act as safety monitors on the water. We provide all equipment, paddling instruction, and safety talk. Trips start and end from the same location. While Friends welcomes beginners on all our trips and no paddling experience necessary, first time paddlers may want to come out for a day trip before heading out on an evening trip. We recommend paddlers are at least 13 years old and all minors paddle with a guardian. Younger river lovers from 8-12 years old are invited to enjoy the event with their family by sitting in the center of the canoe (middle riders do not require registration). Space is limited, registration required. For questions, contact Annette Anderson at aanderson@chicagoriver.org.
