LaBagh Woods/Hernandez - Centennial Volunteer Stewardship Workdays - CANCELED

Tags: Volunteers, Volunteer workday, River education, and Centennial Volunteers

Due to concerns associated with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Forest Preserves of Cook County is cancelling its public events and requiring cancellation of all permitted events until May 11. For public access in the Forest Preserves, starting Today (3/17) they have closed the nature centers and their grounds, the campgrounds, Forest Preserves General Headquarters, Caldwell Woods Warming Shelter, the Volunteer Resource Center and Dan Ryan Woods Visitor Center through May 11, with the exception of polling places for the March 17 primary election.

This uncommon woodland community encompasses wet savanna, marsh, and mature floodplain woods, and is dominated by swamp white oaks. Join an inspiring movement of volunteers gathering to restore this special site along the Chicago River. Learn how to restore diverse wildlife, trees, wildflowers, and health to our forest preserves and river system. Our goal is to grow a community who will become caretakers through on-going education and training.
