The Chicago-Calumet River system is healthier now than it’s been in 150 years, but litter continues to be a persistent problem that hurts people and wildlife and diminishes the beauty of our region. You can make a difference by volunteering to help cleanup the community with the Sheriff's Department and Friends of the Chicago River who will provide safety information, safety monitoring and supplies.

This is a free, family friendly event, children eight and up are eligible to volunteer. Younger family members are welcome to observe provided they are supervised by an adult.

Please dress appropriately for working outdoors. Closed-toe shoes or boots, long pants and long sleeves are suggested, as well as tie hair back or wearing a hat.

Registration is requested but not required.
