Watersmeet Prairie Grove Stewardship Volunteer Days - CANCELED

Tags: Volunteers and Centennial Volunteers

Due to concerns associated with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Forest Preserves of Cook County is cancelling its public events and requiring cancellation of all permitted events until May 11. For public access in the Forest Preserves, starting today (3/17) the nature centers and their grounds, the campgrounds, Forest Preserves General Headquarters, Caldwell Woods Warming Shelter, the Volunteer Resource Center and Dan Ryan Woods Visitor Center are closed through May 11, with the exception of polling places for the March 17 primary election.

Help the North Branch Restoration Project volunteers rescue the prairies, savanna and woods from buckthorn and other invasive species.
Tools and instructions are provided by the steward. It is not necessary to pre-register, but if a group of more than 5-6 are planning to come, please let the steward know that, so that adequate supplies can be provided.

Dress for the weather and the outdoors. We strongly encourage boots/sturdy shoes and clothes that can get wear and tear. Natural fabrics are best, especially if brushpiles may be burned.

This site is located in the village of Northfield. From the Edens Expressway exit at Lake Avenue West. Go west to Wagner Road, turn north and take Wagner to Winnetka Road, go east on Winnetka 3/4 mile. Park on the north side of Winnetka or on a side street to the north. We meet at the picnic tables near the Forest Preserve sign, at the northwest corner of the site.
