Albany Park Flood Tunnel Receives More Funds

The Albany Park Stormwater Diversion Tunnel was developed to address the ongoing flood issues in Albany Park which has been inundated after heavy rains when the river overtopped its banks. The tunnel, which is being developed by the city and the MWRD, is designed to be active only in overflow conditions when it will redirect flood water in the Upper North Branch starting at Eugene Field Park to an 18' diameter pipe that will be constructed below Foster Avenue and run it back to the river above River Park.
