Your Opinion Counts: Oppose Southside Recycling
Your Opinion Counts: Support the Southeast Side community and the Chicago-Calumet River system by voicing your opposition to a pending permit to relocate Southside Recycling (formerly General Iron/RMG), a metal shredding facility that was located in Lincoln Park that is seeking to operate on Chicago’s Southeast Side.
A virtual public meeting tonight at 5:30 p.m. hosted by the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) is closed due to online capacity, however you can still make your voice heard by contacting CDPH by phone at (312) 744-5000 or an online message (see Contact Us on the right side of the CDPH website).
Friends of the Chicago River stands with the community advocates who are challenging the siting and operation of Southside Recycling which was no longer allowed to continue operating in the Lincoln Park community largely due to its pollution actions and violations. See our March 2021 objection letter here.
The Southeast Side community is burdened by an excessive number of highly-polluting facilities and contaminated sites that cause unacceptable public health harms and environmental toxic threats including to the river.
Thank you for your consideration.
