Welcome to the Board Michael Moran

Friends of the Chicago River is pleased to welcome Michael Moran, executive vice president of Aon, to Friends' Board of Directors. The announcement of Moran joining the board coincided with the 29th annual Chicago River Day on May 8 which was generously supported by Aon as the Lead sponsor.

A supporter of Friends for over a decade, Moran and his family participated in Chicago River Day by working alongside volunteers at the Irene C. Hernandez Family Picnic Grove in LaBagh Woods located on Chicago’s Northwest Side.

“The Chicago River is a tremendous natural asset that is vital to the public good, our health and the health of wildlife,” said Moran, who regularly hikes, jogs, and bikes along the river from Horner Park through the North Branch trails. “The work of Friends to improve the quality and openness of the Chicago River system as a blue-green corridor is fantastic, I’m massively impressed by what Friends has been able to achieve. Yet at the same time it’s unfinished, there’s a ton more to do so I’m excited to be a part of helping guide the great work of Friends.”

Moran also serves on the board of Friends of North Side College Prep in the North Park neighborhood of Chicago.
