On January 28, Friends of the Chicago River was delighted to help our partners at Riverbank Neighbors celebrate 30 years of their significant community-based stewardship of the North Branch of the Chicago River and the adjacent land.

Numerous community leaders and elected officials including State Representative Ann Williams (11th), 47th Ward Alderman Matt Martin and MWRD Commissioner Mariyana Spyropoulos turned out at the Sulzer Regional Library in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago for the festive event. The celebration featured singalongs about the river and the environment as well as a short play about the history of the river by students from Waters Elementary School. At the event, Friends of the Chicago River was proud to be recognized by Riverbank Neighbors for our leadership and collaboration in their inspiring work.
