Celebrate the River as a Spirit Team Captain

Show your spirit to make the river safe and accessible for people and wildlife by becoming a Spirit Team Captain at our 2023 Summer Float Party on July 23. Recruit and lead a jovial team of up to four people to raise funds in support our mission to improve and protect the river system.

Apply by June 15 to become a Spirit Team Captain and prepare your festive inner tubes, floating loungers, and inflatable swim toys team for an enthusiastic float on the North Branch of the Chicago River from River Park to Horner Park in Chicago.

The Summer Float Party is a fun on-the-water float parade that celebrates the river’s healthy renaissance due to the advocacy and efforts of Friends of the Chicago River and so many more partners, stakeholders, and committed community volunteers. Our success can be measured by species of fish; miles of river-edge trail; a flourishing riverfront economy; and people in, on and along the water—including floaty toys.
