Engage Your Team on a River Action Day
Spring starts next month, so start planning now to get your company engaged in efforts to improve and protect the Chicago-Calumet River system for people, water, and wildlife. Our River Action Days enable organizations and their employees to make a difference through engaging, hands-on work towards restoring the river system. These volunteer workdays are a valuable benefit to companies by building a spirit of teamwork among employees, increasing staff loyalty, and strengthening relationships with the community. Our expert staff plans and implements these immersive events so all your team has to do is show up to make a difference for the river system and have fun.
River Action Days are a key component of our Litter Free Chicago-Calumet River initiative which works to reduce the amount of trash harming our waterways by working with community and government leaders to develop strong public policy and comprehensive programs.
River Action Day activities include:
- Litter cleanups
- Restoration activities such as non-native plant removal, native seed collecting, mulching, or trail building projects
- Guided canoe trips
- Educational activities such as nature walks and nature scavenger hunts
Sponsorship of Chicago River Day on Saturday, May 11 is another meaningful opportunity for companies to make a positive impact on the health of the river system by supporting litter cleanups at more than 75 locations from Lake County to the Calumet region. The generous support of our sponsors enables Chicago River Day to remain free and accessible to everyone, ensuring all volunteers have the support and supplies needed for a safe and successful cleanup.
