River Resolution for January

The North Branch of the Chicago River at River Park.

This year Friends announced 12 River Resolutions for the New Year to inspire actions and ideas that you can embrace to improve the health of the 156-mile Chicago-Calumet River system and its tributary streams for all people, water, and wildlife. Designed with a one-a-month approach, the dozen advocacy steps are an invitation to engage and educate the public to get to know the river system as well as what they can do for it and why it matters for us all.

January: Get to Know Our Wildlife

This month learn about our native wild animals by visiting one of the Forest Preserves of Cook County Nature Centers or going for a walk in the woods. You can also listen to our Inside, Out & About podcast to learn about and plan your exploration of local natural wonders and the people, plants, and wildlife that make them special. Early morning or dusk is a good time to catch a glimpse of a great horned owl or a coyote in peak breeding season.

Listen to Friends’ Executive Director Margaret Frisbie discuss our River Resolutions on WBBM Newsradio.
