Cruising into Autumn for the Bridgehouse Museum

A beautiful fall evening cruising the Chicago River under the twinkling lights of Chicago’s world renowned skyline created the perfect ambiance for guests aboard the 12th Annual Autumn Cruise this Thursday to benefit our McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum.
Passengers enjoyed live entertainment and an informative presentation about the river’s wildlife from Friends’ Conservation Projects Manager Kristine Lorenzo. She pointed out all the ways that wildlife can benefit from and can be seen along the river system, such as bats which can eat thousands of insects each evening.
Proceeds from the special cruise benefit important programming at the Bridgehouse Museum, including educational field trips for Chicago Public School students who learn about the river’s ecology and history and how the once abused Chicago-Calumet River system is now home to abundant wildlife including all kinds of turtles and river otters. The Bridgehouse Museum is a gateway to the past, present, and future of the 156-mile Chicago-Calumet River system which we work to restore and protect.
The Bridgehouse Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 25, and museum associates are available to lead visitors on interactive tours of the more than 100-year-old bridgehouse. Special thanks to the Watershed
Sponsors of the cruise: Wendella Tours & Cruises, CIBC, and The Wrigley Building.
