Double Your Impact! Or Buy a Camera!
Around the world people are celebrating Earth Day on April 22, taking action for people, wildlife, land, air, water, and the planet we love.
Double Your Impact Now!
At Friends, we are celebrating Earth Day all month long—and starting today through April 30, thanks to the generosity of Otter Society Members Michael and Kim Moran and Larry and Denise Kaplan, Friends invites you to double your dollar with a match of up to $20,000.
In this special giving opportunity, you can turn your $25 gift into $50, $300 into $600, and celebrate Earth Month by donating to our cause: to protect and restore the Chicago-Calumet River system for all people, water, and wildlife.
Friends has made great progress, yet we need you more than ever. With the climate crisis bearing down upon us, our 156-mile Chicago-Calumet River system and the human and wildlife communities along it are under threat. Increasing frequency and intensity of severe weather events and heavy rains can rapidly wash away our riverbanks; create flood conditions; contribute pollution; and destroy habitat, community assets and infrastructure, and protected natural lands. Despite decades of river recovery, our fragile river is at risk.
All donations to Friends of the Chicago River are eligible for this special match opportunity for the rest of Earth Month.
As part of our Earth Day Matching program, with a gift of $25,000 or more Friends of the Chicago River will be able to install a high quality nest cam on our osprey nest at the Chicago Botanic Garden. This special view would enable us to work with our partners at the Forest Preserves of Cook County and the Garden to better understand life on the nest and when the birds come and go, while providing a fascinating opportunity for public education and engagement.
You can help us achieve or get closer to this goal with your donation today!
We need your help. We hope you consider a donation to Friends today.
