Summer is coming and you are invited to be a part of the 2022 Summer Float Party when 500 lucky floaters will join Friends of the Chicago River on inner tubes and floaty toys on the North Branch of the Chicago River.  The Summer Float Party is an unparalleled opportunity to experience the magic and pageantry of the Chicago River system while celebrating the river’s renaissance and filling the river corridor with laughter and joy.

The event takes place on Sunday, August 14 from 12:30 – 5 p.m. Floaters will depart from the boat launch at west River Park in Chicago and drift downstream to Clark Park, enjoying the sunshine and the ever improving health of the Chicago River system. An after party will take place from 3-5 p.m. at Clark Park. The event will be promoted broadly through a comprehensive integrated PR/marketing campaign starting in June.

The Summer Float Party is possible because over the last 40 years, the health of the river system has improved dramatically through the advocacy and efforts of Friends of the Chicago River, the City of Chicago, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and so many more partners, stakeholders, and committed community volunteers. Our success can be measured by species of fish; miles of river-edge trail; a flourishing riverfront economy; and people in, on and along the water—this time in floaty toys.
