Canoe Guide and Trailer Hauling

The Canoe Program is one of Friends’ longest running programs, providing opportunity for people to get to know the beauty, wildlife and wellness benefits of paddling the Chicago-Calumet River system. Trips run April through October throughout the watershed and are made possible through extensive volunteer guide support. We provide training, weekly organizational updates and an annual review of the program where we seek input and ideas from guides on how we can improve the volunteer guide and guest experience. The guide community welcomes people from different backgrounds, ages and experience levels.
