Bridgehouse Museum Director Josh Coles is interviewed by WBEZ radio producers.

Kicking off a new series about lesser-known museums and galleries in the Chicago area, WBEZ’s popular program Reset with Sasha-Ann Simmons features our McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum, calling it “a hidden gem inside a historic landmark.”

Reset program producers Lynnea Domienik and Nadia Hernandez recently spent an afternoon touring the museum with Friends’ Executive Director Margaret Frisbie and Bridghouse Museum Director Josh Coles. The feature story describes the museum as “A classroom for learning about the Chicago River” and “A testament to Chicago’s incredible bridges.” The report goes on to say: “Exhibits cover pre-European settlements along the waterway, how Chicago’s slaughterhouses and sewers polluted the river and how in more recent years, it’s been cleaned up and transformed into a lifeline for birds, turtles, kayakers and yes, even swimmers.”

The McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum is located on Chicago’s Riverwalk and is open Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of the season, October 26. There is a suggested donation of $8.
