Chicago River Habitat Connectivity Action Plan
View Action Plan Here
Serving as the biodiversity focused component of Friends of the Chicago River’s broader Chicago River Conservation and Recovery Plan, this initiative identifies specific projects, strategies, and opportunities to enhance the role of the Chicago River system as connected habitat network.
We spent more than a year researching best practices (view Framework Plan), connecting with expert wildlife partners, and using mapped data to discover new ways to implement our habitat restoration goals.
Through this process we were able to advance our project methodologies, create new advocacy tools, and outline strategies based on the most current urban wildlife science.
