FPCC Education Permit

The Forest Preserves of Cook County (FPCC) requires an Education Permit for activities, such as field trips, from all groups wishing to use their grounds (listed on the map of field trip sites as 4, 5-17, 27-31, and 33-35). Other sites in Lake County and within the Chicago Park District do not require permits. Sites 23, 24, 27 and 32 require special permission.

If you group plans on visiting a Forest Preserve site, please complete the EDUCATION PERMIT REQUEST FORM and send it to:

Forest Preserves of Cook County
Email: jacqui.ulrich@cookcountyil.gov (prefered method)
If you can't email the application, fax it to (847) 724-1097.

You can expect to receive your permit via email. Your application will not be considered unless all fields are filled in. Print a copy for your records and bring Education Permit on your field trip. If you have any questions, contact the FPCC permit office at (847) 724-1254.

You should call (708) 771-1088 to make sure bathrooms are unlocked the day of your field trip. It is assumed that all activities will take place during normal daytime hours of operation, between sunrise and sunset. No collecting of specimens is allowed, except those specifically stated in your permit. Please report any observed illegal activities on Forest Preserve property to the FPCC police at (708) 771-1000.

The application is for educational field trips and activities by schools or similar organizations. Application for research study permits or any activity involving more extensive collecting should be directed to the FPCC Resource Ecology Section.
