Honors and Awards

Friends of the Chicago River is honored to have been recognized locally, nationally, and internationally with a total of 60 awards for our action and advocacy.

We continue to strive to be creative, strategic, and visionary in all our work to protect and restore the Chicago-Calumet River system. Most recently we were thrilled to be the recipient of the prestigious Theiss International Riverprize in 2025, and a Chicago Wilderness Force of Nature Award in 2025. Friends is the only winner of four Force of Nature Awards since its inception in 2017.
